How to Be a Jewelry Trend Destination
"Jewelry and fashion should go hand in hand," says Jewelers of America Director of PR & Special Events Amanda Gizzi, a trend expert with nearly a decade of jewelry trend forecasting experience.
Amanda revealed how jewelers can be a trend destination in her presentation at the JA New York Show on July 27, 2015.
Stay on trend by looking at magazines (Instyle), TV and the Internet fashion websites (TheCut.com).
Follow trends on social media. Use hashtags to not only research current trends on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, but also contribute to the conversation by adding popular fashion hashtags to your brand's posts. There are so many searchable terms, but hashtags like #jewelrytrends, #jewelry, #showmeyourrings, and #fashiontrends are a good way to get started.
Join the online conversation during big fashion media events, like the Oscars, Golden Globes, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Again, use hashtags to get your posts seen by a huge audience of fashionistas (#oscarjewelry, #goldenglobes, etc)
According to Amanda, Instagram is the most powerful social media tool that jewelers can use today to share their jewelry product. Consumers use Instagram not only for fashion inspiration but to source gifts, accessories and clothes. Don't underestimate the power of promoting your brand through pictures of your jewelry and posts that tie into current trends.
Constantly refresh how you sell and display your merchandise. It's not necessarily about stocking new jewelry trends each season, but refreshing your marketing and displays so that you are presenting your jewelry in an interesting way and contextualizing existing inventory around current trends.
To get started presenting your jewelry store as a trend destination, here are some highlights of the top trends that will shape the jewelry market through 2017, according to international jewelry trend forecasting agency, TRENDVISION.
