Formica Group was the first in the world to develop the technology patented and started producing Nanogem or Nanocrystal.
Formica operates in the market of colored synthetic stones for over 20 years.
It is well established that the major problem in the production of CZ and many other synthetic crystals is the unevenness of colors. At the same time, glasses are quite uniform in color they are inferior to the synthetic minerals which have a higher refractive index, more brilliance, extreme hardness and higher density. Also it is known that glasses as well as many synthetic crystals do no posses such properties as superior thermal shock resistance and as a result cannot be used in the high temperature wax casting.
Having worked with almost all existing synthetic crystals and materials and thoroughly analyzing all the strong and weak points, we came to conclusion that we need to develop completely new and more perfect material for the jewelry industry.
We were looking for some suitable alternative material for a very long time. The material that will combine all the best properties of crystals and glasses and will devoid of drawbacks. Therefore, the creation of this unique material, as Nanogem, really has been our long-standing goal, objective and dream, which fortunately has successfully realized. This task we have set for ourselves and implemented.
So, what Nanogem really is? It is not special glass and it is not synthetic crystal or mineral. It is their hybrid. Nanogem – is glass-ceramic material with nanosized (10-7 cm) crystals of Spinel in an aluminosilicate glass matrix. This material optimally combines the valuable properties inherent in crystals and glasses. The analog of the glass-ceramics in the nature is Obsidian - an effusive volcanic rock composed mainly of natural volcanic glass with abundant nucleation crystals (crystallites) and microlites.
Nanogem's advantages are obvious: color uniformity over the entire volume, relatively high hardness (7-7.5), refractive index (1.61 - 1.64) and density (3-3.3g/cm3), color and luster - are maximally close to many natural minerals, high thermal shock resistance (makes Nanogems ideally compatible with wax casting technology).
The first sample of the emerald green Nanogem or Nanocrystal (another patented name of the same material) was produced in Moscow in 1993. But it was just laboratory production. As you can see, the path from the laboratory sample to industrial production has been very difficult and time consuming. Currently, FORMICA manufactures transparent, translucent (opaline) and opaque Nanogems that completely imitate the colors, brightness, hardness and density of gemstones such as: Emerald, Sapphire, Spinel; Topaz ("sky," "swiss" and "london blue"), Peridot; Citrine; Aquamarine; Garnet; Kunzite; Morganite; Grey and Smoky Quartz; Ivory (beige-cream), Turquoise, Aqua blue opal, Black and others - totally more than 50 different colors and shades.
Most of the Nanogems are offered in different variations of color saturation: Very Dark, Dark, Medium and Light. The darker varieties are used for producing smaller sized stones, while the lighter selections are used for larger ones; this enables a manufacturer to maintain the same hue of color saturation throughout variations in sizes and shapes.
Nanogems offer many advantages compared to the currently available market alternatives that make it more attractive to jewelry producers. The growing success of this high quality material among jewelry manufacturers has given many people worldwide an opportunity to enjoy the simulated beauty of many different gemstones at a fraction of the cost of a genuine stone.

Formica Group produces Nanogem rough at it's factory in Thailand. Full range of colors and shades are listed in Product Catalog.
Main part of the rough we are cutting in Asia. Cut stones produced by means of European type automatic and semi-automatic machines and have precise cutting and good quality polishing. All stones pass control by Formica`s experts, so we can guarantee high quality, close to European standards. We offer a wide range of colors (about 50), sizes (standard and any special), shapes (round, oval and other standard and fancy) and cuts (diamond, step, "natural", and etc) .
For customers, using only European quality cut stones, we offer products of the famous Preciosa a.s., Czech Republic. This company uses Formica made Nanogems from the beginning of their production. At the same time, Formica Group is the exclusive dealer of Preciosa in Thailand and Russia and successfully sells their stones for many years.
Silver jewelry with Nanogems is a new developing direction for Formica group. Some samples of our products are presented in section "Jewelry".
We offer all types of synthetics (white and color CZ, corundum and others) in same kinds of cut - Asian and Preciosa.
